P6 Math: Catching up (Savings vs Spent vs Allowances)

Advance P6 questions such as these requires students to compare between daily differences and accumulated differences.

Such questions are common in P6 Prelim Paper 2.
Calculator usage is allowed.

Esther's daily allowance is $0.40 more than Valerie's daily allowance.
Each girl spends the same amount of $1.50 every day and saves their remaining allowance.
When Esther saved $40, Valerie only managed to save $20.

How much was Valerie's daily allowance?

P3/P4 Before and After One Party Unchanged (Start Multiples, End Difference)

Such questions presents 2 values to be multiples of each other at first.

One of the value undergo a change(addition/subtraction) and the resulting difference is given after the chance.

Such questions require students to use "Before and After Comparison Models" to visualize the changes and to also be aware that one of the values "did not change".

These questions are common in Section C of P3 and P4 exam papers.

There were thrice as many boys as girls whom were in the school hall at first.
After 15 boys left the school hall to go toilet, 
there were still 17 more boys than girls remaining in the hall.

P5/P6 Math: Starting Fraction Comparison and Ending with Difference

Fraction Comparison between 2 parties, taught in P5, will appear with many "Before and After" type problem sums.

One of such problem sums presents itself with a known starting fractional comparison between 2 parties.
After one of the party undergoes fractional decrease and the other going through an increase or decrease with a known value, the ending difference is given.

Such questions are common in P5 Paper 2.
Calculator usage is allowed.

Aaron has 4/5 as many sweets as Kelvin at first.
After Aaron ate 1/2 of his sweets and Kelvin bought 30 more sweets,
Kelvin now has 63 more sweets than Aaron.

P5 Math: Internal Transfer (Quick Revision Practice)

Such "Internal Transfer" questions starts with the difference given.
The "giver" can either the one with more or less at first.
Students must be able to know the final difference between the 2 values at the end.

These questions usually appear in Paper 1 of P5 WA1 or WA2.

Isabelle has 150 more books than Carol at first.

P4/P5 Math: Before and After Fractional Decrease (Start Same, End with Difference)

The questions starts off with equal quantities of 2 different items.
Each item undergoes different fractional decrease.
The difference at the end is given.

Such question requires students to be able to use "Before and After" models 
and use the denominator of each fraction to show the total items of either type at first. 

Such questions usually appear in P4 SA2 papers and P5 Paper 1.
Calculator usage is not allowed.
