P6 Math: Before and After (3 changes to percentage between 2 values)

This question type show the percentage changes at every step of the "internal transfer" that happens between 2 values.

Such questions are common in Paper 2 of P6 Prelim exams.
Calculator usage is allowed.

Shane and Kirsten have a total of $8640 at first.
Shane gave Kirsten some of his money and Kirsten's amount increased by 60%.
Kirsten then gave Shane some of her money and Shane's amount increased by 30%.
Then, Shane gave Kirsten some of his money and Kirsten's amount increased by 80%.
Both had equal amount of money in the end.

Find the percentage increase of the amount of Kirsten's money.

P6 Math: 3 Parties Before and After with Uneven Ratio at the End

A total of 3 parties are given at first.
Each of the party undergo increase or decrease and the end ratio is given.
Some of the increase/decrease are fractional and some are numerical.

One of the value undergo percentage decrease and the other a fractional decrease.

This Before and After problem sum starts with the total of 3 parties given.

Questions like these require students to be able to use model drawing to visualize how the ending became both the same amount.

The total at first is given. Both parties undergo a change [ increase and decrease respectively.
And both parties have the same at the end.

P4P5 Math: Internal Transfer ( Starting Total, Ending Multiples)

Another variant of the "Internal Transfer" type of question.

This version starts with a known total and the value of the transfer is also given.
Such questions will end with one party being the multiple of the other.

"Before and After" Comparison Models are necessary for such Section C questions in P4 exams.

Alice and Wendy have a total of 324 cookies at first.
After Wendy gave 35 cookies to Alice,
she now has twice as many cookies as Alice.

P5 Math: Before and After Fractional Change and Deduction

This is a slightly more complex version of the P4 Question "here".

This question requires students to draw "Before and After" comparison models.

Calculation using long division will be impractical due to the large divisor.
Thus question shows itself again in P5 with larger numbers.

Such question will appear in P5 Exams in Paper 2.
Calculator usage is allowed.


Ken and Ryu have sum of $1040 altogether.

After Ken spent 1/6 of his money and Ryu spent $732 of his money,
both have the same amount of money left.
