P4 Math: Listing Multiples with Remainders

This question type requires students to list out multiples between 2 numbers and also to consider another condition when selecting the common number that appears in both lists.

Such questions are common in P4 exams in Section C.

Heather has some lollipops to pack.
If she packs the lollipops into bags of 5, there will be no remainder.
If she packs the lollipops into bags of 7, there will be only 2 lollipops in the last bag.

What is the least number of lollipops that Heather could have?

P4P5P6: Set Method (1 free with every multiple of)

Set method of many variations are taught since P3.

Such questions require students to count in multiples of certain number and use those multiples to calculate the value of such sets.

For the type of questions shown below, students will also need to understand what are "Complete Sets" and "Incomplete Sets".

Such questions are common in Section B and C of P4 exams and also in Paper 1 of P5 and P6 exams.
Calculator usage is not allowed.

At a fruit stall, apples are sold at $2 each.
For every 4 apples sold, an apple is given free.

a) What is the minimum amount needed to buy 21 apples?
b) What is the most number of apples that can be bought with $84?

P6 Math: Circle with a Square (2 identical isosceles triangles)

This is a circle question that also requires knowledge of triangles and squares.

The radius is not given but the area of the square or triangle is given.
Students will find it difficult to find the area of the circle due to the missing radius.

Such questions appear in Paper 2 of Prelim papers.
Calculator usage is allowed.

P4 Math: Simple Pie Chart

Pie Charts in P4 will require students to understand the meaning of the 90 degree and what fraction(of the total) the right-angled piece represents.

Such questions usually appear in Section C of P4 exam papers.
P5 and P6 students can use this as extra practice for Paper 1 as well (no calculator usage).

P5 Math: Ratio Basics (3 parties)

Ratio of 3 parties merely expresses the simplest form between 3 values and are not representing the exact value.

With one or more values given, students must make be able to derive the other values by means of multiplication or division.

Such questions usually appear in P5 Paper 1.
Calculator usage is not allowed.

Tricia, Belinda and Alicia has baked some muffins in the ratio of 4:3:1 respectively.
They baked a total of 640 muffins.

How many more muffins than Alicia did Tricia bake?

P3/P4 Math: Fitting Equal Quantities into Containers with Remainder

The following question requires basic division so as to find out how many containers can be fitted with equal quantities but there will be some remainder after performing the division.

Such questions are common in P4 exams in Section A or B.

Mrs Lim is planning an excursion for her 60 students.
She needs to ferry the students and herself to the Science Center.
A mini-bus can sit up to 12 people.

What is the least number of mini-buses needed
to ferry the students and herself to the Science Center?

P5/P6 Math: Different Multiples of 2 Items with Same Total Value (Individual Difference Given)

2 items of different quantities have the same total value.
The difference between each item is also given.

Such questions can appear in both P5 and P6 Paper 2.
Calculator usage is allowed.

Set method is a common technique taught from P3.

In P5, the concept of incomplete sets is commonly tested.
Such questions often appear in Paper 2 of P5 and P6 papers
Calculator usage is allowed.

In a market, each kilogram of the tilapia fish is sold at $12.
For every 5kg of tilapia fish bought, the 6th kilogram of tilapia is sold only at $9.
