P6 Math: 3 Different Fractions of 3 Different Totals

This question type shows 2 fractions of 2 different totals.
The 3rd fraction shows the relationship between the 2 numerators above.

Such questions are common in Paper 1 of P6 Exams(Mid Year and Prelims)
Calculator usage is not allowed.

Mr Teo owns an aquarium that sells goldfish and guppies.
On a particular day, he sold 1/3 of the goldfish and 5/11 of the guppies.

P4/P5 Pie Chart (Fractions of Different Denominators)

These questions shows that the Pie Chart have 3 sections and each section is denoted by a fraction with its own unique denominator.

Students have to make use of common denominator so all the sections' fractions add up to become one whole.

P4: Fraction of Remainder (Basic)

Fraction of a remainder is a concept similar to Fraction of a Fraction.
Student will need to know that they must not make both denominator the same if each denominator of the 2 fractions do not represent the same total.

Such questions are common in Section C of P4 exams.

This question type requires students to be able to use part/whole models to visualize "Fraction of Total" and "Fraction of Remainder". The "Guess and Check" table will also be required here.

Such questions are common in Paper 2 of P6 exams.

Teddy bought some apples from the market.
After he threw away 152 apples and gave 1/5 of the remaining apples to his sister,

P4P5 : Internal Transfer Multiples (More Became Less)

This question type is very similar to the one with external transfer where the one with more became the one with less.

This one, however, is internal transfer, where the larger value gives away to the smaller value until the smaller value becomes the bigger one.

Such questions will appear in Section C of P4 exams and Paper 1 of P5 exams.

Pie Charts taught in P4 will require students to understand the meaning of the 90 degree and what fraction(of the total) the right-angled piece represents.

This question is slightly more complex and will require students to understand the comparison between the different parts of the pie chart(besides knowing that 90 degrees represent a quarter of the total)

Such questions usually appear in Section C of P4 exam papers.
P5 and P6 students can use this as extra practice for Paper 1 as well (no calculator usage).

P5/P6 Math : 3 Parties Before and After with Equal Amounts at the End

This Before and After problem sum starts with the total of 3 parties given.
Each party undergo either numerical increase, numerical decrease and/or fractional decrease. The problem sum ends with each party having equal ratio in the end.

Such questions are common in P5 and P6 Paper 2.

P6 Math: Fractional Decrease of 2 different totals with 2 possibilities

This question type challenges the ability of students to handle fractions of 2 different totals.

Students need to be able to make use of the fractional decrease and the 2 values given (One of remaining total and one of difference between the 2 remaining values).

Such questions usually appear in Paper 2 of P6 exams.
Calculator usage is allowed.

Jenny and Patsie have baked some cookies each.
If Jenny gave away 2/5 of her cookies and Patsie gave away 1/2 of her cookies,
they will have 70 cookies left altogether.
But if Jenny gave away 2/5 of her cookies and Patsie gave away 3/4 of her cookies,
Jenny will have 19 more cookies than Patsie remaining at the end.

How many cookies did both girls bake altogether?
