P4: Fraction of Remainder (Basic)

Fraction of a remainder is a concept similar to Fraction of a Fraction.
Student will need to know that they must not make both denominator the same if each denominator of the 2 fractions do not represent the same total.

Such questions are common in Section C of P4 exams.

Jaya has some plates in green, blue and red in colour.
1/4 of his plates are green.
5/6 of the remaining plates are blue and the rest are red.
He has 40 blue plates.

How many plates does he have altogether?

P5 Math: Ratio Basics (3 parties)

Ratio of 3 parties merely expresses the simplest form between 3 values and are not representing the exact value.

With one or more values given, students must make be able to derive the other values by means of multiplication or division.

Such questions usually appear in P5 Paper 1.
Calculator usage is not allowed.

Tricia, Belinda and Alicia has baked some muffins in the ratio of 4:3:1 respectively.
They baked a total of 640 muffins.

P5/P6 Math: Starting Total and Ending Ratio (Basic)

The question type below provides the student with the starting total between 2 parties and the ending ratio after each of them undergo some changes. One of the value will undergo a fractional decrease and the other will have some value added or subtracted.

Students will need to "start from the end" in order to solve. (aka working backwards)

Such questions are common in Paper 2 of P5 and P6 papers.

To express 2 numbers as ratio is like drawing a comparison models of 2 numbers and finding their common factors.

But all these must be done without drawing models and without finding common factors.
